This weekend offers a veritable cornucopia of possibilities to keep you and the family entertained in and aroud Exeter.

Milling at Cricklepit
Friday, Cricklepit Mill, from 10am
See a historic watermill in action and visit Devon Wildlife Trust's headquarters. Watch as volunteer millers grind wheat for flour in the traditional way. The stone-ground wholemeal flour will also be available to buy on the day.

Private Views and Public Art

Dinosaur Zoo roars into Exeter
Friday to Sunday, Exeter Northcott Theatre
Dinosaur Zoo creators, ‘Erth’, use imaginative puppetry to bring dinosaurs to life in an interactive live show which is suitable for all the family (age 3+). During the show, intrepid audience members brave enough to get up close and personal with the dinosaurs are brought onto the stage to assist the Zoo Keeper in her daily tasks  - but be warned - not all of these ravenous reptiles are as tame as they seem!

Heritage Open Day at St. Nicholas Priory

St Thomas Community Festival - A fun day out for all the family!
Saturday, St. Thomas Pleasure Grounds 12-6pm
The local community in St Thomas, Exeter, has come together and organised a local community festival which is being held in the St Thomas Pleasure Grounds.

There will be lots to see and enjoy, with great local bands and musicians playing including Moscow Magazine, Tatty Hat, Cut Purse Rascals, Charlotte Ward and Hysteria Kids Rock Band. Order of events on the Music Stage will be hosted by talented local singer songwriter Karl Zumar.

Bone Head: A Heads up on the Most Fascinating Bones in the Body
Saturday, Royal Albert Memorial Museum, 2pm
Join RAMM Patron Nick Baker for an informative, intimate, sometimes surreal and irreverent look into the world of skulls and a skull collector.
Nick has been a bone collector all his life, fascinated in particular with the many aspects of the skull. In this talk he gets down to the bare bones of the most important collection of bones in the body; on one hand the perfect example of form and function and on the other, a thing of great sculptural beauty.

He will explore the origins, purpose and mechanics of these bones and how they develop, and delve into the realm of symbolism and imagery.

Mal Evans was the Beatles roadie, but he was also their closest friend, he toured the world with them, took part on their recording sessions and films. He was there when they met Bob Dylan and Elvis. He was their protector when their lives were threatened in the Philippines and present when they studied with Maharishi in India. He even lived with Paul McCartney as his housekeeper in 1967 and there is good reason to believe he helped write the title song of ‘Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts’ Club Band

The Merry Wives of Windsor

Creative Cow in association with Yvonne Arnaud Theatre Guildford presents The Merry Wives of Windsor.
First published in 1602, William Shakespeare's epic and delightful comedy is a rollicking tale of marriage, fidelity, trickery and love.

intoLACE
Saturday to Sunday, dual exhibition at Devon Guild of Craftsmen Bovey Tracey and Thelma Hulbert Gallery
A partnership exhibition that challenges preconceived ideas of 'lace'. Straddling both venues intoLACE presents 22 artists overall, who seek to examine the historic uses and values of lace with particular reference to Honiton lace at the Hulbert. Exhibits at the Guild feature fabric-wrapped ceramic, photograms, glass-encased lace, sun-prints through lace, laser-cut paper sculpture and delicate jewellery.

Peter Randall-Page: Drawings and Prints
Until October, CCANW, The Innovation Centre, Rennes Drive, Exeter
The sculptor Peter Randall-Page is noted for his stone carving and fascination with the complex relationship between geometry and biology.

Gillian Ayres: Paintings and Prints 1986 to 2011
Friday-Sunday, Royal Albert Memorial Museum
This exhibition features the printmaking of Gillian Ayres, one of the leading British abstract artists of her generation. As well as the vibrant, heavily-worked canvasses for which she is best known, Gillian is also a dedicated printmaker.
