Military Wives Choirs 10th Anniversary Concerts tickets released

The Military Wives Choirs is a community of nearly 2000 women in over 70 choirs across the UK and internationally who celebrate a love of singing and the power of shared experiences. 2022 marks 10 years since the formation of the charity, a milestone that will be celebrated throughout the year with a series of five concerts taking place across the UK, at St Albans Cathedral, Winchester Cathedral, Lincoln Cathedral, Exeter Cathedral, and Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh. Tickets were released for the Winchester concerts in May 2022, and are available at www.militarywiveschoirs.org/concerts

Following the huge success of the first concert in St Albans on Saturday 18 June, tickets are now on sale for the remaining 3 concerts in the series; Lincoln Cathedral will host the third of these exciting concerts on Friday 2 September 2022, bringing together over 200 choir members from 14 Military Wives Choirs.

Exeter Cathedral will see the fourth concert in the series on Saturday 24 September 2022, hosting 200 members from 10 Military Wives Choirs, including members of our overseas choirs.

Completing the concert series will be Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh, who will host 9 choirs from across Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North East of England on Saturday 29 October 2022. The Edinburgh concert will mark the end of a wonderful year of celebrations that will have brought together a total of over 1000 choir members from 60 individual choirs from the network. Each concert in the series features an appearance by soprano and Ambassador Laura Wright. Laura has a long-standing relationship with the Military Wives Choirs, having collaborated on the 2018 album “Remember” by co-writing and appearing on the track Brave. Laura says:

particularly as a Mum. Performing with and writing music for the Military Wives Choirs

back in 2018 was such a pleasure—it gave me an enormous sense of warmth and made me

any of these women live their whole lives with the

same level of extreme isolation that many of us have just experienced for the very first

time. Singing gives us emotional awareness—it allows us to recognise and express our

feelings, as well as relate to the feelings of others around us. I am thoroughly delighted to

be singing alongside this amazing group of women once more.”

The musical programme includes a selection of new arrangements, alongside some of the Military Wives Choirs’ best loved songs, together with readings from choir members and Friends of the Military Wives Choirs. Under the baton of Artistic Director Hilary Davan Wetton, and supported by an ensemble of musicians, including Ambassador Sean Hargreaves and arranger Lucy Mulgan, the concerts celebrate the uplifting network that the Military Wives Choirs has created through the power of singing.

As both an independent charity and a subsidiary of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, the Military Wives Choirs works collaboratively with SSAFA in their mission to provide support to our Forces and their families.
