Miley Cyrus lights joint at Awards Ceremony

Miley Cyrus has sparked controversy after appearing to light up a joint at the MTV European Music Awards in Amsterdam.

The 20-year old took the rolled up joint from her handbag whilst accepting the best video award for ‘wrecking ball’.

The singer also opened the awards show with a performance of ‘We Can’t Stop’ accompanied by a latex clad dwarf.

"I couldn't fit this award in my purse but I did find this," she said before lighting the joint.

Although Marijuana is legal in Amsterdam and is unlikely to result in a criminal conviction the move is sure to further controversy surrounding the singer since complaints around her twerking with Robin Thicke earlier this year.

The MTV Europe Music Awardswere streamed live on MTV channels around the world.
