Miss Stacia Blake, born 1952 in Redhills, Exeter made an extraordinary and unannounced performance at this year’s sold out Kozfest (Kozmic Kens Psychedelic Dream Festival).

Miss Blake was the iconic performance artist and dancer with space rock pioneers Hawkwind, who celebrate their 50th anniversary this year.

Her last public performance was at the 1975 Reading Festival (Friday, August 22) where Hawkwind headlined the opening night. Famed for her dramatic, powerful poise and interpretive dance, the surprise return to the stage saw Miss Stacia join former band mate and founder Nik Turner (Hawkwind saxophonist, flautist, lyricist and vocalist) for an unannounced and astonishing ‘jam’ set on Saturday, July 27. While Nik Turner and friends delighted fans in the packed Judge Trev stage, the appearance of Miss Stacia after over four decades of absence brought grown men to tears!

Miss Stacia was joined on stage by Ms Angel (contemporary dancer- Arthur Brown, Space Ritual, Hawkwind) for a truly moving, magical and inspired performance which raised the roof of the stage, in this most welcoming of summer events.
Miss Stacia also reappeared on the Sunday, in an astonishing and mesmerising performance with Liverpool based band Bonnacons of Doom.

Whether this was a one off, or the dawning of a new era remains to be seen. But it has been strongly rumoured that a biography is in the works.

Kozfest relocated to Woolacombe in North Devon for its sun-kissed ninth event, where the attendees and staff were as warm as the weather.
