Heads South Latin Jazz Quintet bring their exhilarating music to Exeter on Friday February 26.

The acclaimed Band, who will be on tour in the South West, will perform at 8pm at the Barnfield Theatre.

Heads South combine Cuban and other Latin rhythms with distinctive melodies in a thrilling repertoire of original compositions and arrangements of classic tunes.

Heads South features the UK's top jazz trumpeter Steve Waterman,  band leader John Harriman on piano/organ, Venezuelan bassist Adolfredo Pulido,  Cuban percussionist Chino Martell Morgan on congas, bongos, cajon, guiro,  and Buster Birch drums, timbale, castanets and frame drum.

Their premium Latin Jazz appeals both to the keen music listener and also the dance lover. For newcomers to this music, think Cuba’s Buena Vista in a smaller package, add tuneful melody, the excitement of spontaneous jazz improvisation, and imbibe the warmth of a Latin evening.

"Cool, cultured and exhilarating" The Musician.

"Crisp, invigorating Latin jazz…Waterman’s mastery of this idiom suits Harriman’s deceptively simple compositions to perfection"  Dave Gelly, The Observer.

“Heads South is a refreshing cultural mix of players with outstanding jazz credentials....well worth seeing” The Gig Guide

"Impeccable musicianship" The Times

"Very talented..dazzling solos....a Band that is well worth seeing" The Jazzmann

“Brimming with infectious high-energy grooves" JazzUK

“Superb”  Raul da Gama, Latin Jazz Network (USA).
