Set sail for Greece with Exeter Little Theatre Company (ELTC) this July as it brings to life William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors.

The Barnfield Theatre will transform into the Greek city of Ephesus, a summer destination where crowds can enjoy a perfect evening of entertainment and laughs.

Meet Egeon (played by Andrew Mimmack), a merchant of the rival city Syrcause after being caught upon Ephesus’ shores and is facing execution unless he pays a huge ransom by sunset. He is brought before Duke Solinus (Richard Flack) and decides to share with him (and the audience) a sad tale about an event that occurred 33 years ago.

The merchant tells the Duke how he was the father to twin boys. He calls both boys Antipholus and buys another set of twins, both named Dromio, to be their servants.

While sailing home with his wife, sons and servants, the boat is rocked by a violent storm. As the boat splits Egeon manages to save only one Antipholus and one Dromio and has never seen the rest of his family since.

Unbeknown to the merchant, his son, Antipholus of Syracuse (Pete Francis) and servant Dromio of Syracus (Gill Smith) arrive in search of their long-lost twin siblings - unaware that their father has also arrived there on the same quest.

Soon Antipholus and Dromio find themselves at a Greek villa and greeted like old friends, without knowing their lost siblings (played by Simon Leach and Fran Manhire) have been living in Ephesus for many years. And so begin a hilarious tale of mistaken identity and wild mishaps.
