Exeter Scouts and Guides will be “Riding along on the crest of a wave” again this Easter, as Exeter Gang Show returns to the Barnfield Theatre, Exeter from the 11th to the 14th April 2018.

Bigger, brighter and louder than ever before the 34th Exeter Scout and Guide Gang Show is packed full of popular songs, expert choreography and laugh out loud sketches and has everything to keep audience members of any age entertained.

The cast of over 75 Cubs, Brownies, Scouts, Guides, Explorers, Senior Section and Leaders from across Exeter and the surrounding areas are swapping the hiking and camping kith for the bright lights, make-up, glitz and glamour of showbiz.

This is not a show about Scouting and Guiding, as Co-Producer Dave Britton states: “It is a show by Scouts and Guides who are enormously talented and want to entertain you. You cannot help but be swept away by the enthusiasm and talent of these young people.”

The Gang Show is an eclectic mix of music, dance and comedy, boasting over 30 different songs, ranging from West End musicals, popular hits and traditional Gang Show favourites spread across 16 scenes in two acts.

The music will feature classic numbers from musicals such as Miss Saigon and Matilda, right up to modern hits from Jesse Glynn and Owl City. In between, there will be fast-paced sketches including teachers who can’t teach, overexcited pensioners, grumpy fairies and what we hope will be a touching tribute the fallen of World War One.

This year's show is once again produced by local Brownie leader Jo Bond and District Scouter Dave Britton. Putting the show together is a huge task, with the production team over almost 30 volunteers getting to work pretty much as soon as the curtain fell on the hugely successful 2017 show last April.

“We are really excited about this year’s show and how it has really built up from the great shows we put on in 2016 and 2017,” said Co-Producer Jo Bond. “All of our cast have really got stuck in, learning song words and dance moves, having begun rehearsals straight after the Christmas Break.  Now, with under a month to go excitement is really building and we can’t wait to get on stage.”

The show really is a great night out for all the family. It's fun, a great laugh and hopefully everyone will enjoy it. Most of all it brings together all ages from Guiding and Scouting and the opportunity for them to perform on stage, enjoy the limelight and take away that buzz that you can only get from the roar of the crowd.

The Exeter Scout and Guide Gang Show will be at the Barnfield Theatre from Wednesday 11th to Saturday 14th April. Performances start at 7.15pm and there is a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £10.00 or £8.50 for concessions. Tickets: 01392 270891 or online.
