Summer is just around the corner and there’s plenty of fun and adventure to keep the whole family entertained at The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth this May half term.

Open from 9am every day, an array of family-friendly activities will be on offer, such as face painting, making a donkey out of modelling clay and creating a bat finger puppet. Furthermore, to celebrate the imminent arrival of The Donkey Sanctuary’s new Bat Beacon this summer, there will be a bat holiday hunt for wildlife explorers young and old.

Get the whole family outdoors and meet some of the 500 donkeys who are cared for at the Sidmouth site, including giant Poitou donkeys, gorgeous adoption donkeys and marvellous miniature donkeys; you can even cuddle a donkey or two in the main yard! Explore the maze, let off some steam in the farm-themed outdoor play area and bring the dog along for a scenic coast and country walk around the heart of the Sanctuary.

Chris Phillips of The Donkey Sanctuary says: “This May half term at The Donkey Sanctuary there will be a range of activities every day for all family members to join in with! Craft activities will be taking place each day in the Events Barn between 11am and 3pm and face painting from 12pm to 2pm.The bat holiday hunt will begin in the Gift Shop and will run all day, every day.”

Take a break in the Hayloft restaurant where you will find freshly-prepared, locally-sourced food including hearty breakfasts, delicious lunches and afternoon tea. Specials, kid’s portions, vegetarian and gluten free options are available.

May half term holiday activities will run from 28 May – 5 June. Find out more about the Sanctuary’s events at www.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk/events
