University plans to accommodate 1,600 students on campus

The University of Exeter has unveiled proposals to develop new on-campus accommodation for students.

The University will shortly submit an outline planning application to Exeter City Council for new student residences at East Park, on its Streatham Campus, providing space for around 1,300 students.

Two further full planning applications will also be submitted for the redevelopment of the Moberly halls of residence and redevelopment of Spreytonway, both of which are also on the Streatham Campus. Together, these two sites will provide space for around 300 students.

New primary school to be built in Exeter

Devon County Council has issued a compulsory purchase order to enable work to start on a new primary school in Exeter.

The Trinity Church of England primary school is designed to serve the growing community at Newcourt off Topsham Road.

The school was originally planned to open in September 2016.

But building work had to be called off last autumn when Devon could not reach agreement with a number of landowners about rights and access to the proposed site of the school.

Bob the Builder visits Ladysmith Junior School

Children at Ladysmith Junior School in Exeter received a visit from Bob the Builder who talked to them about the build of their new school and the importance of site safety.

As part of the visit, pupils took part in a competition to have their art work displayed on hoarding around the construction site. The inspirational achievements of exceptional students at Exeter College have been celebrated at the AS and BTEC Certificate Awards 2016.

New York Times Bestselling author Kathryn Aalto was guest speaker at the awards held at the college’s Centre for Creative Industries on Tuesday, 28th June.

Exeter College students impressed at the coveted national finals in London of the toughest debating competition in the country.

A landmark event in the UK’s education calendar, the college students beat off tough competition to reach the Institute of Ideas Debating Matters National Final at the Museum of London.

Exeter Deaf Academy are celebrating the birth of a future star as student Molly Thomas followed up winning a national drama competition by showcasing her acting talent in a drama masterclass at the prestigious mac Birmingham over the weekend of 19/20 June.

Exeter pupils' poetry selected for literary festival

The work of three Exeter School poets has been selected for publication by the Budleigh Salterton Decorative and Fine Arts Society.

The collection of poems will be published in September as part of the Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival and the work of five other pupils will also be on display.
