Pride and Celebration: Isca Academy Hosts Civic Awards for Local Young Changemakers

Young people from across Devon were recognised for their commitment to citizenship, leadership and community service at a special Torbay and Devon Civic Award ceremony held at Isca Academy this month.

The event, which celebrates the achievements of Year 6 pupils who have gone above and beyond in helping others, brought together proud students, families, and staff from schools across the region to acknowledge months of voluntary service and personal growth.

Free places on offer at Exeter School

Exeter School is delighted to offer eight free places to children from the local community. The co-educational independent school for children aged 7 – 18 has received sufficient donations and legacies from former pupils, in addition to ongoing grants from a local charity, to create eight bursaries for children from Exeter. A Mid Devon primary has been recognised as a happy and vibrant place in which to learn and work.

Independent education inspectors say that Sandford School should retain the rating of good that it was awarded in 2012.

PUPILS and staff at Kentisbeare Primary School are celebrating after receiving a gold award for their outdoor learning programme – the only school to achieve the accolade in the Devon.

An Exeter infants school is providing a good quality of education and enjoying swift improvements under a new management team, according to independent education inspectors. Devon County Council’s adult education service Learn Devon is celebrating after maintaining its Good rating from Ofsted, following an inspection on 28 February and 1 March.

Over the two days, HM inspectors met with managers, tutors and other staff, visited lessons, talked to learners and reviewed key information such as evidence of safeguarding and reports on learners’ satisfaction with their courses.

In his report, HM Inspector Steve Tucker praised the service’s “clear focus on improving the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable people in Devon.”
