Primary School students enjoy new gardening adventures thanks to Otter Garden Centres

Students at Ottery Primary School are set to enjoy more hands-on gardening activities thanks to the donation of a beautiful new potting shed from Otter Garden Centres .

The idea grew from discussions held during Otter’s 60 Good Deeds campaign, celebrating the company’s 60th anniversary in 2024. Otter first helped the school by replacing the wood on raised beds, providing a new pond liner, and installing a roof for the forest school firepit area, making outdoor learning possible all year round.

Next week, schools across the Ted Wragg Trust, spanning Devon, will be marking Children’s Mental Health Week. Organised by the children’s mental health charity Place2Be, the annual event raises awareness of the importance of mental health for children and young people. Year 4 pupils from Whipton Barton Federation embarked on an unforgettable trip to Wildwood Devon at Escot Park this month, immersing themselves in 'living Saxon history.'

Pupils at Exwick Heights Primary School recently embarked on a birdwatching adventure as part of the RSPB Schools’ Bird Watch survey.

Mozart Class ventured into the Discovery Garden to quietly observe and document the variety of bird species around the school grounds. Their patience and enthusiasm paid off as they were rewarded with many feathered friends who visited for a close-up view.

Exeter school first in Devon to receive gold anti-bullying award

Students and staff at West Exe School are delighted to share that it has become the first school in Devon to be awarded the prestigious Gold award quality mark for their work on anti-bullying.

Staff and pupils at Whipton Barton Federation are celebrating exceptional academic achievements after newly released Department for Education data revealed that pupils at the school are outperforming national and regional averages in key areas of learning.

The Rainbow Flag Award is a national quality assurance framework for all schools and youth-centred organisations. The award focuses on positive LGBT+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, plus other related identities) inclusion and visibility.
