Wynstream’s Dodgeball Stars Advance to National Finals for Third Year Running

Wynstream Primary School in Exeter, part of Education South West , is celebrating a remarkable sporting achievement as its Under 11 Dodgeball team progressed to the National Finals for the third consecutive year, this time achieving their highest-ever finish at the regional stage with a runner-up position.

The team stormed through the group stage with an unbeaten 100% record, winning all five matches to top their group. They then overcame Montgomery in the semi-finals, a team they had never beaten before, in a thrilling match that secured them a place in the final.

Students at Exeter College are celebrating their university offers to world-renowned institutions, the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. Several students from West Exe School , part of the Ted Wragg Trust , recently took part in Philosothon UK.

A Philosothon is a friendly “competition” between small teams in which students participate in a series of “Communities of Inquiry” and are judged by the quality of their participation. Students are asked to consider open-ended questions which require an extended response and typically involve appeal to more than one discipline.

Pupils from six local primary schools have taken part in a tag rugby festival at West Exe School, part of the Ted Wragg Multi-Academy Trust , thanks to the school’s Primary Sports Offer.

The primary schools taking advantage of West Exe’s Primary Sports Offer are Alphington, Exwick Heights, Ide, Bowhill, St Gabriel’s and St Thomas. Each school is invited to participate in six festivals across the school year, these involve a wide range of sports from cross country and multi skills to tag rugby.

A successful skills training programme led by Devon County Council has received its largest funding award from the Department for Education to further boost employment opportunities across the county.
