A NEW children’s choir is to launch in Exeter and is seeking singers.

Theatretrain Exeter opened its doors two years ago and has grown steadily over that time. Providing training in the performing arts, Theatretrain currently runs a Saturday morning school for children aged 4-18 years and over 40 children from Exeter have just appeared in a show at the Royal Albert Hall.

Due to popular demand, they are now launching a show choir for children aged 8-18 years.

Centre Director, Paul Clark said: “The popularity of being in a choir is growing from strength to strength. There are around 25,000 choirs in the UK, including school and church ensembles. Research shows that singing is the country’s most popular group activity after sport and we are often asked if we provide singing classes. Well, now we do!”

Bronwen Davies-Jones, who will lead the show choir, is keen to use her professional skills as a musician, singer and as a teacher and is looking forward to developing the potential of the choir members.

She said: “Singing is fantastic in so many ways. It boosts health, self-confidence and makes you feel great. “Being part of Theatretrain is really exciting and I am really looking forward to the launch of the show choir. The choir will be fun, friendly and is all about offering children an experience where they will get to sing a variety of different musical styles.”

The new choir starts next Tuesday (24thSeptember) by offering a FREE taster session for anyone that is interested.

Rehearsals will take place at The Sunnylands Room, Pinhoe from 6.00pm to 7.30pm, and no audition is required. Sessions are just £5 per week (sibling discount available).

To book a place for the free taster session, please contact Paul on 01392 914066 or email exeter@theatretrain.co.uk.
