An Exeter School PE teacher is preparing for the London Marathon in aid of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

Hannah Rhodes chose to raise money for the charity as she has a number of close friends who suffer from diabetes.

“I have seen first-hand the implications of the condition and how it can affect everyday life,” said Hannah.

“It was also part of a personal challenge to run my first marathon having run my first half marathon last year and an attempt to encourage pupils at school to maintain their involvement in exercise and physical activity throughout their lives.”

Hannah has a target of £2000 and the money raised will enable research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes which is the most common in children, affecting around 400,000 people in the UK.
