Let a firefighter wash your car

Firefighters up and down the country are preparing to roll up their sleeves to take part in the National Car Wash this Saturday, 10 September to raise vital funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Bring your car along and have it washed in return for a donation to The Fire Fighters Charity, the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired fire service personnel and their families.

Peter Millett, a well-known County Probation Officer who worked in Mid and East Devon, Exeter Prison and was one of a number of outstanding Probation Liaison Officers to the Crown Court, has died aged 90.  A wise and charming man of great integrity, he was an important influence on those he came into contact with during his twenty years with the then Devon Probation Service. He epitomised all that was best in that role: exercising a disciplined discretion while encouraging someone who might potentially be dangerous to face up to their responsibilities to both courts and the community.
