An Exeter woman who had a stroke aged just 29 has turned to comedy to help rebuild her life and confidence.

Molly Kinsey’s act focusses on the chaos of being a mum to her young son, and audiences are stunned when she reveals that she is a stroke survivor. Redrow Homes South West has supported a number of deserving causes in the Okehampton community – home to its new Romansfield development – through the creation of a fund for local organisations.

Ecclesiastical is giving £120,000 to good causes as part of its annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign.

The specialist insurer will be giving 120 different charities an early Christmas gift of a £1,000 donation, with 10 winners announced each weekday from 5 to 20 December.

Award-winning south west estate agents and chartered surveyors Whitton & Laing have generously donated £1,884 to Exeter-based ‘Balloons’, a charity who help support bereaved children and their families.

The sum represented the year the independent estate agency was established and their way of giving back to the local community as part of the firm’s 135th anniversary celebrations.

Kitley House Hotel was the stunning backdrop for Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) most recent fundraiser, the Firewalk; which involved 70 people walking on fire on Thursday evening and hoping to raise over £12,000 in sponsorship.

This is the first time that CHSW has put on a Firewalk fundraising event in Plymouth and it proved extremely popular with places flying out fast for people to take part in this unique event.

Latest grant to Devon Air Ambulance from Devonshire freemasons brings total donation to £2.4 million

A grant of £4,000 to the Devon Air Ambulance from Devonshire Freemasons has brought the total Masonic support given to air ambulances across the country to £2.4 million since 2007.

The total contribution to the Devon Air Ambulance since 2007 by Devonshire Freemasons is in excess of £122,000.

Devon’s Air Ambulances operates across Devon up to 19 hours a day and assisted 1109 patients during 2018.

The grant, which comes through the Masonic Charitable Foundation, is funded by freemasons and their families from across Devon, England and Wales.

Exeter Racecourse will be highlighting the invaluable work of Devon Air Ambulance at its charity raceday on Sunday, November 24.
