Vertu MINI Exeter is supporting North Devon Hospice, as part of MINI’s Local MINI Hero initiative, which encourages dealerships to actively support and celebrate their local communities.

As part of this special partnership, Vertu MINI Exeter will be sponsoring and attending two major fundraising events for the hospice this year – its recent Nightwalk, and the North Devon Marathon, which is set to take place on 29th June. Personal Support Unit announces new name to better reach those in need of vital court support services

The Personal Support Unit, a charity dedicated to providing free, independent assistance to individuals facing court alone, will in future be known as Support Through Court, following an extensive rebrand.

The new name, coinciding with the charity’s 18th birthday, is designed to convey more effectively the service the charity offers, which is increasingly vital at a time of extensive cuts to legal aid.

Coffee morning helps local housebuilders raise funds for Macmillan

Cakes, coffee and a chat with the neighbours have helped local housebuilders Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The five-star housebuilders put the kettle on at the Minerva development in Exeter last week as part of The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, inviting residents, neighbours and staff to join in for a morning of socialising.

Darts Farm continues to raise funds for local charities

During the summer months Darts Farm is renowned for its vibrant yellow fields of pick-your-own sunflowers and it’s superb ‘Maize Maze’. The beautiful flowers have raised a total of £5,034 this year for Darts Farm chosen charity, Hospiscare and the ‘Maize Maze’; a maze that’s constructed entirely out of the maize crop grown in the Darts Farm field, has raised a total of £3,061 for local charity ELF (Exeter Leukaemia Fund).

Skittles fundraiser for FORCE Charity

The Family Law Company raised over £1300 at their annual skittles event for FORCE Cancer Charity – and the total is still rising.

The event was held in memory of Helen Finch who worked at the firm for over 21 years and was lost to cancer earlier this year.

There was a great atmosphere at the event, organised by TFLC Director Jane Chanot. Businesses taking part on the evening were Thomas Westcott, ITEC and Foresight Financial Planning, joining lawyers and support staff from TFLC for the skittles challenge.

Housebuilder colleagues smash charity target in memory of Dean - one year on from race tragedy

Colleagues at a national housebuilder have smashed their charity target after running the Cardiff Half Marathon this month, in memory of 32-year-old Dean Fletcher, who tragically died last year at the event.

The husband and father - a management accountant at Bovis Homes’ South West region - suffered a cardiac arrest after completing the course last October.

LOVE Devon, the fundraising arm of the charity Devon Communities Together, and Exeter Racecourse have teamed up to create the first A Question of Racing on Haldon Gold Cup Day, Tuesday November 5.

A star-studded panel includes record-breaking Devon born-and-bred female jockeys Bryony Frost and Lizzie Kelly, Philip Hobbs, David Pipe and Joe Tizzard, who rode the winner of the Gold Cup three times.

Staff at Paignton's Beverley Holidays put the icing on the cake for Macmillan Cancer Support during its World's Biggest Coffee Morning event this autumn.

Receptionists, entertainers and other members of the park's charity support team all took part in a kitchen contest for the coveted title of Beverley’s Star Baker.

A flooring retailer has marked the opening of its new £100,000 store in Newton Abbot by pledging its support for a local mental health support charity.

Flooring Superstore opened on the Kingsteignton Trading Estate, Pottery Road, in September.

FORCE Cancer Charity Patron Nigel Acheson

Dr Nigel Acheson becomes new patron of FORCE

Dr Nigel Acheson is the new Patron of Exeter-based FORCE Cancer Charity.

He becomes only its fourth patron after former diplomat Sir Anthony Parsons, FORCE co-founder Chris Rowland and Martin Cooper, the former Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust Medical Director who died last year.
