Vertu MINI Exeter drives support for North Devon Hospice

Vertu MINI Exeter is supporting North Devon Hospice, as part of MINI’s Local MINI Hero initiative, which encourages dealerships to actively support and celebrate their local communities.

As part of this special partnership, Vertu MINI Exeter will be sponsoring and attending two major fundraising events for the hospice this year – its recent Nightwalk, and the North Devon Marathon, which is set to take place on 29th June. Attendees can look out for two stunning MINI vehicles on display at each event, as the dealership showcases its commitment to the cause and community.

£12,000 raised at Firey Fundraiser

Kitley House Hotel was the stunning backdrop for Children’s Hospice South West’s (CHSW) most recent fundraiser, the Firewalk; which involved 70 people walking on fire on Thursday evening and hoping to raise over £12,000 in sponsorship.

This is the first time that CHSW has put on a Firewalk fundraising event in Plymouth and it proved extremely popular with places flying out fast for people to take part in this unique event.

The event was put on by UK Firewalk and involved participants taking part in a training session led by Firewalk Guinness World Record holder Scott Bell....

Latest grant to Devon Air Ambulance from Devonshire freemasons brings total donation to £2.4 million

A grant of £4,000 to the Devon Air Ambulance from Devonshire Freemasons has brought the total Masonic support given to air ambulances across the country to £2.4 million since 2007.

The total contribution to the Devon Air Ambulance since 2007 by Devonshire Freemasons is in excess of £122,000.

Devon’s Air Ambulances operates across Devon up to 19 hours a day and assisted 1109 patients during 2018.

The grant, which comes through the Masonic Charitable Foundation, is funded by freemasons and their families from across Devon, England and Wales.

Exeter Racecourse will be highlighting the invaluable work of Devon Air Ambulance at its charity raceday on Sunday, November 24.

Racecourse general manager Jack Parkinson said: “Devon’s Air Ambulances are very much an essential part of the community we live in and we are delighted to support their vital work. We have supported the charity for a number of years, but this is the first time we have named our raceday after the charity. Browne Jacobson trainees smash fundraising target in ride, trek and sleep-out charity challenge

Twenty-six Browne Jacobson trainees have raised over £11k for the firm’s five charity partners after completing the last of three endurance testing events this weekend.

The final challenge saw 14 of the trainees forfeiting their home comforts by taking part in an Autumnal Sleep Out in the firm’s office gardens in Nottingham that tied in with National Homeless Awareness Week.

The group smashed their £7k target set out earlier in the year with all the proceeds being divided equally between all five partner charities.

Made and donated by the kind, and incredibly talented, folks at Ullacombe Farm Shop and Café near Bovey Tracey, this deliciously devilish brain cake is going to be auctioned off to raise money for local people with brain injuries.

The auction will take place on Headway Devon’s Facebook page on Wednesday 30th October, so that the lucky winner will have their terrifying treat in time for Halloween. Bidding will open at 10am and close at 3pm.
