Exeter City Community Trust, the charitable arm of Exeter City Football Club, is stepping into a new sport as it joins a major national initiative to grow women’s rugby in the city ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

The organisation, which is more used to the beautiful game than the oval ball, is joining with Exeter Chiefs and Exeter City Council as the delivery partner for the Strive ‘25 Rugby Challenge, a national programme aimed at engaging 25,000 women and girls in rugby across host cities. A week-long ‘festive’ virtual balloon race, launching from Santa’s village in Lapland, will take place from Friday 10 December to raise vital funds for Brainwave, who help disabled children reach their potential through a range of specialist therapies.

Balloons can be purchased for just £5, with prizes including a family weekend break to Camel Creek in Cornwall , 6-person Regatta tent, and family day tickets to Butlins. Nominate a charity to receive a festive financial boost Specialist insurer Ecclesiastical is giving £120,000 to good causes as part of its annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign.

Now into its fifth year, Ecclesiastical is once again inviting Devon residents to nominate a registered charity close to their hearts to benefit from this festive financial boost.

Ten lucky winners will be announced each weekday from 6 to 21 December.

The Exeter Christmas pop-up shop is back: Help raise vital funds for charity this Christmas

Cards for Good Causes, the charity Christmas card and gift retailer, had opened its doors in Exeter. The pop-up shop is in St. Martin's Church and is open Monday to Saturday 10am-4pm.

The not-for-profit organisation always has a huge selection of charity Christmas cards and seasonal gifts with proceeds donated back to local and national charities. In the last 10 years alone, they have raised over £40 million for charity and last year, the Exeter community raised an incredible £10,400 with the sale of charity cards and gifts in the pop-up shop.

RGB Building Supplies' Well Built Builder's Bum 2022 calendar is now on sale to raise vital funds for the builders merchant's chosen charities, Devon Mind, Cornwall Mind and Mind in Somerset.

RGB invited tradespeople to put themselves forward to be included in the calendar and be photographed whilst doing their job, but with a little bit of their bottom on display.

£75,000 grants available to support employment and skills projects

Charities and community groups in the South and South West of England are invited to apply for a share of £75,000 funding for employment and skills projects.

Sovereign Housing Association, working with not-for-profit digital fundraising platform The Good Exchange, has grants available for community projects that focus on supporting people to upskill, access training, find work or better work, or self-employment opportunities.

Projects need to be based within three miles of a Sovereign home and could be anything from community learning programmes and job clubs to homework...

Eco-friendly Christmas decorations for FORCE tree

The FORCE Christmas tree in Princesshay will be trimmed with especially eco-friendly decorations this year.

A group of patients who have been supported by FORCE came together at the charity’s Support and Information Centre to create a wonderful array of decorations from recycled materials.

They are ready in time for the big switch-on of Christmas trees representing a host of local charities this Thursday (November 18).

Wheelchair User raises Over £400 For Charity Through Completing ‘Marathon In A Month’ Challenge

Chris Long, a wheelchair user with cerebral palsy and a customer of Bluebird Care Exeter, has raised over £400 for Hospiscare by taking part in their ‘Marathon in a Month’ event in October.

He was inspired to take part after seeing a poster on Exeter’s Quayside during one of his regular outings with his Bluebird Care Exeter Care Assistant. He told the Care Assistant that he would love to take part and subsequently signed up.
