Exeter City Community Trust, the charitable arm of Exeter City Football Club, is stepping into a new sport as it joins a major national initiative to grow women’s rugby in the city ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

Call goes out to Exeter swimmers to make a splash in diabetes charity challenge

A sponsored swimming challenge which raises vital funds for Diabetes UK returns this spring – and a call has gone out for people from the south-west to sign up.

Swim22 runs between 22 March and 22 June and involves swimming a total of 22 miles – the same distance as the English Channel. Participants can take on the challenge at their own pace, anywhere they like, accumulating the miles across the course of the 12 weeks.

Brewin Dolphin southwest raises over £12,000 for local children’s charity

Wealth manager Brewin Dolphin’s southwest offices (Exeter, Plymouth and Truro) have raised over £12,000 for Farms for City Children, during a two-year partnership with the charity, which began in 2020. The money raised will be able to subsidise around 39 children’s residential stay at a farm for one week.

Employees from all three offices took part in various fundraising activities to raise money, including Christmas auctions and raffles and the Brewin Dolphin 7-Day Challenge, which saw members from the respective offices walk, run or cycle 655 miles collectively over seven days....

Generous shoppers in Devon are being encouraged to support a fundraising campaign for three leading health charities.

Last year Tesco's ‘Helping you to live healthier’ campaign raised more than £1million after customers rounded up their shop to the nearest £1 at self-service tills.

Exeter retirement village residents raise nearly £7,000 for Hospiscare

Millbrook retirement village, in Exeter, has handed over a cheque for £6,677 to Hospiscare, after residents hosted a series of fundraisers throughout 2021.

Residents raised £3,338.97 in total by hosting a charity walk, quiz, dog show, coffee morning, craft show, a singing concert, Christmas raffle, and a patio clean. One resident, Jenny Skinner, aged 68, even took part in a skydive to raise vital funds for the Devon based charity.

The residents’ donations were matched by Inspired Villages, the later living operator behind Millbrook, doubling the total to £6,677.94...

McDonald’s Marsh Barton officially reopened on 3 February following an extensive refurbishment.

The new restaurant boasts all the latest innovations from McDonald’s, including a side-by-side drive thru and improved kitchen facilities.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Trish Oliver and the local franchisee and owner, David Shawyer.
