Exeter City Community Trust, the charitable arm of Exeter City Football Club, is stepping into a new sport as it joins a major national initiative to grow women’s rugby in the city ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

A team of riders from national law firm, Foot Anstey LLP, will be swapping their suits for lycra for a two-day bike ride in support of the Disasters Emergency Committee's (DEC) Ukraine Appeal.

The two-day bike ride will start on 5 May from Foot Anstey's Truro office and see the team cycle to Foot Anstey's offices in Plymouth, Exeter, and Taunton before finishing at the firm's Bristol office on 6 May.

Over 1,000 supporters stepped up for their local hospice charity by taking part in its iconic fundraising event last month.

Men’s Walk returned on 12 March to raise sponsorship for Hospiscare ’s vital end-of-life care for local people living with a terminal illness.

The hospice cares for over 2,500 patients and their families every year across Exeter, Mid and East Devon. With just 18% of the charity’s income funded by the NHS, events like Men’s Walk are crucial to the survival of Hospiscare.

A local charity that supports bereaved children, young people and their families following the death of a loved one has received a £10,000 donation from the operators of Bodmin, Exeter and Devon, Weston, and Mendip crematoria.

Local fundraisers in Exeter have won recognition this week for raising £13,000, funding a guide dog into a partnership with someone with sight loss. Thanks to these hard-working volunteers, guide dog Kane is now fully funded to support someone with sight loss for his working dog career.

It costs around £55,000 to breed, train and support a guide dog throughout their life.
