Westbank’s warm welcome for the community this winter

Westbank Community Health and Care has opened the doors of its warm, welcoming winter space for the communities of Exminster and Starcross, and is trialling a new shuttle service two days a week to help local people get there.

Warmwell at Westbank is within the charity’s recently revamped Community Hub and is open Monday - Friday from 10am for anyone seeking a welcoming, heated space during the daytime where they can share a cuppa and conversation during the colder months, including over the festive season. The run-up to Christmas has been busy for local health and wellbeing charity Westbank Community Health and Care, with a full calendar of events for members of its community and its team.

The festive celebrations got off to a heartwarming start when Year 2 children from Exeter Pre-Prep School visited Westbank’s Day Centre at Exminster to sing a melody of Christmas songs for regular clients.

The following day, the Royal Oak in Exminster kindly hosted a 3-course meal for fifty of Westbank’s clients to mark the end of a year of fantastic support from the pub.

Dunelm, the UK’s largest homewares retailer, has spread festive joy to the Exeter community after hosting an exciting event at its much-loved Pausa Café earlier this week.

Lord Mayor officially opens new Blue Cross unit in Exeter

The Lord Mayor of Exeter has officially opened a new rehoming, advice and behaviour unit from national pet charity Blue Cross in the city.

Dogs, cats and small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs will be cared for in foster homes whilst they are waiting to be matched to a new home by the team at the unit at Matford Park Road, Marsh Barton.

Recycle your real Christmas tree to support your local hospice

Hospiscare have launched their annual Christmas Tree Recycling scheme to support end-of-life care across the heart of Devon.

On Thursday 11, Friday 12 and Saturday 13 January 2024, Hospiscare and a team of volunteers will be heading out in full force to collect and recycle Christmas trees in return for a donation to the local charity.

Collections will take place in Crediton, Exeter, Exmouth, Honiton, Tiverton, Sidmouth and Ottery St Mary, with a recommended donation of £15 per tree.

A five-star builder is supporting an Exeter-based estate agent in their charity drive for two local charities.

Persimmon Homes South West donated £1,000 to Right At Homes Estate Agents’ Christmas charity event this year, which will go towards helping Pete’s Dragons and Andy’s Man Club.
