Exeter City Community Trust, the charitable arm of Exeter City Football Club, is stepping into a new sport as it joins a major national initiative to grow women’s rugby in the city ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

5-year-old Theo comes to the rescue after giant giraffe goes missing from charity shop

A five-year-old boy from Exminster has come to the rescue after charity shop staff reported the theft of a giant toy giraffe from its shop window.

Little Theo heard how ‘Danny’ the giraffe was to be raffled off to raise funds at the Cancer Research UK shop in Exeter for Stand Up To Cancer, but thieves had stolen him one Saturday morning.

Theo, who attends Exminster Primary school, was so moved to help staff after his beloved grandmother Margaret died from cancer two years ago. He got in touch to donate his own special giraffe to the charity shop in Sidwell Street in...

11-year-old Izzy completes an epic 20-mile walk for local charity

Young philanthropist Izzy Rutter, an 11-year-old from Exeter, recently accomplished an impressive 20-mile charity walk to raise money for InFocus Charity, based in Exeter.

InFocus Charity is dedicated to supporting young individuals with vision impairment and complex needs.

On 16th September 2023, Izzy embarked on her challenging journey, covering a 20-mile route from Exeter to Dawlish Warren and back, all in pursuit of her New Year resolution to raise £100 for a local charity.

Bristol musicians take on epic Lands End to John O’Groats cycle gig challenge to support the MND Association

Mark Evans and Ian McGuire will be getting on their bikes to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats in support of the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association. At the end of each day and each stage of the route the duo alongside challenge support driver and band member Guy plan to perform a gig in a local venue - you can catch them at The Angel Bar in Queen Street, Exeter on Tuesday 10th October.

The musicians from Bristol are hoping to raise £5,000 and plenty of audience applause by completing their ‘Lejog 2 Legig’ challenge which takes place between the 9th and 22nd October....

A trio of carers from Bluebird Care New Devon took on a gruelling hike to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society, raising over £1,000 for the important cause.

Frankie Rowe (Head of Care), Megan Chilton (Deputy Manager) and Danielle McGahey (Senior Carer) completed Alzheimer’s Society’s ‘Trek26’ challenge to walk 26 miles across the South Devon Coast in one day.

More than twenty members of the Mid Devon health and fitness group, Way to Fitness , grabbed the opportunity to get naked and raise funds for Exeter-based FORCE Cancer Charity. Emma Healey, Fitness Instructor and Personal Performance Coach with Way To Fitness and Shine Brighter Coaching , put out a call for volunteers after a suggestion from a member.

Children and young people across the South West to benefit from law firm charitable grants

Foot Anstey LLP, has announced the four community organisations receiving £1,000 grants from its charitable foundation.

The Foot Anstey Foundation funds, raised by employees, are donated to local charities that have local impact.

The four charities receiving the grants are Breakout Youth in Southampton, HomeStart Exeter, Plymouth Football Boot Bank and Yeovil Opportunity Group (YOG).

Exeter Girls Take the Leap in Aid of Pete's Dragons

2 Exeter girls, Amber Jenkins and Jade Driscoll, have completed a 15,000ft Skydive in aid of Exmouth based charity Pete's Dragons.

The girls signed up just a week before the jump took place after seeing a post on Facebook advertising Skydives as a novel way of raising much needed funds and raised over £1,000 and dedicated the jump to their good friend, Anthony, who took his own life a year ago.

Pete's Dragons provides support to people from anywhere in Devon who have been impacted by suicide.

Exeter homelessness charity is a finalist for a national award

An Exeter-based homelessness charity has been shortlisted for a high-profile national award, for its essential work to support rough sleepers in the city.

St Petrock’s is one of 17 finalists that fought off competition from almost 4,000 hopeful applicants, to reach the public vote stage in a bid to be crowned National Lottery Project of the Year 2023.

Runners and housebuilders collaborate to help local hospice

Devon charity, Hospiscare, has secured a £1,000 donation from local developers after an application from two of its charity runners.

Persimmon Homes South West received an application for its Community Champions scheme from Rachel Payne and Kate Smith, both of whom competed in races including the London Marathon 2023, to raise money for the hospice.
