Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Cancer death rates drop in South West

People across the South West are being urged to show their support for World Cancer Day today (February 4) as Cancer Research UK releases new figures revealing that cancer death rates in the region have fallen by 9 per cent over the last 10 years.

The charity is encouraging everyone in the region to wear a Unity Band or make a donation to demonstrate their support for people affected by cancer.

Half-Term Inside Out film screening

This February half-term, local brain injury charity Headway Devon will be hosting a film screening of the Disney hit Inside Out .

Taking place at the XCentre by Exeter Quay on Tuesday 16th February, this event promises to be a great way to keep the kids happy without breaking the bank.

Grab those goggles and go for it! Sign up now for Exeter Hospiscare’s Swimathon coming to the city next month.

Devon and Cornwall Police has offered its pool at Middlemoor HQ as the venue for this exciting new event.

There are six lanes and each team has 55 minutes to swim as far as it can in its dedicated lane – so it’s not a race and you can go as fast or as slow as you like.

Ex-soldier takes on Rock Solid for charity

Steve French, an ex-serviceman from Exeter, will take on Exeter’s Rock Solid Race in March to raise money for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a leading charity that helps bereaved British Forces children smile again.

Steve, 28, now a restaurant manager, was touring with the Army when Lee Scott, the inspiration behind the charity and father-of-two, was killed in Afghanistan after his vehicle hit an IED.

Devon Bloodbike founder recognised by PM

A driving instructor who founded Devon Freewheelers, a team of 50 volunteer motorcycle riders who deliver blood and life-saving medical supplies in emergencies has been named a Point of Light by Prime Minister David Cameron.

The Devon Freewheelers work with local hospitals in the county for the emergency transport of blood, human tissues for transplant service, urgent medications, donor breast milk and any urgent medical equipment that can be transported by motorcycle.

A new year, a new partnership as Exeter Airport has chosen the UK’s leading cancer charity; CLIC Sargent, as their charity of the year for 2016.

Exeter Airport’s members of staff voted to support CLIC Sargent this year as they wanted to help families in the area who are affected when a young person has been diagnosed with cancer. During the airport’s association with the charity over 800,000 people will travel on 40 routes and there will be giving opportunities whilst the passengers are in the catering and retail areas of the airport.

Princesshay and local charity, Age UK Exeter has raised over £22,000 since the launch of their charity partnership in January 2015.

Age UK Exeter is a local charity serving local people and is part of the Age UK family.
