Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

RGB Exeter launches charity Christmas Present Appeal

The Exeter branch of RGB Building Supplies is asking customers and members of the local community to donate gifts, no matter how big or small, to its Christmas Present Appeal in aid of Children’s Hospice South West.

Between Monday 14th November and Monday 12th December, a gift suitable for a child of any age or their parents can be placed under the Christmas tree in the Exeter branch. At the end of the appeal, Children’s Hospice South West will distribute the presents to the children and families they support, in time to be enjoyed over the festive period.

A charity that brings songs and smiles to older isolated people will launch in Exeter in December. The Golden-Oldies Charity, fondly just referred to as ‘Goldies’ and with Sir Cliff Richard as its Patron, started in the Bath and Bristol area 10 years ago. Founder Grenville Jones, a well respected West Country choir leader, had seen for himself how singing brought joy to so many people through his many choirs. Old Mill raises £5,000 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance

Accountants and financial planners Old Mill have raised more than £5,000 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance by hosting an Autumn Dinner Dance.

More than 100 people supported the black tie event, which was held at Bowood House in Calne on Saturday 15th October.

George Stafford, 19, has been shortlisted as Donor Champion of the Year at the Anthony Nolan Supporter Awards 2016. The prestigious Anthony Nolan Supporter Awards are back for their fourth year to celebrate, recognise and thank the outstanding supporters who keep the pioneering blood cancer charity moving forward. Charities set to light up Princesshay this Christmas

Princesshay’s Roman Walk will come alive with festive cheer as the centre hosts its fourth Charity Christmas Tree Festival, starting on the 18th November.

The festival, which aims to raise both awareness and funds for local charities, will be opened with a celebratory light switch-on by the Lord Mayor of Exeter at 5.00pm on Friday 18 November. Representatives from participating charities will be attending the event, which follows Exeter’s city wide Christmas lights switch-on on Thursday 17th November.

Exeter College Christmas Concert supports Devon Air Ambulance

This Christmas Exeter College invite the public to join them in their festive celebrations and support Devon Air Ambulance (DAA). Exeter College’s Festival of Carols will be held on Thursday 8th December at Exeter Cathedral in aid of DAA as the College’s chosen Charity of the Year.

With Trustees’ Week running from November 7 to 13, three experts from The Family Law Company are keen to explain why they became trustees with local charities.

There are currently around 194,000 charities in the UK with just over 1 million trustees; just under half are women, and the average age of a trustee is 59 in England and Wales, although 86,000 are aged 16-34.

Exeter student leads clean water project

The taps have been turned on at an exciting rainwater collection project, managed by an engineering graduate from Exeter University, in the area of Sainte Luce in South East Madagascar.

The project, named Project Tatirano (meaning to ‘collect rainwater in Malagasy), has been running a pilot scheme for the last 12 months at a local school in Sainte Luce, aiming to provide clean drinking water for both the children at the school and those villagers who live nearby.
