Devon charities announced as partners for huge weekend of live music

Four Devon-based charities have been selected to be official partners for the county’s biggest music event this summer.

TK Maxx presents Live At Powderham runs for four nights from Thursday June 25 to Sunday June 28, featuring headline shows from vocal powerhouse Teddy Swims, seven-time GRAMMY winner Alanis Morissette and global superstar Lewis Capaldi.

Each night will see a local charity given the opportunity to have a team of fundraisers on site and for 2026 Live At Powderham will support Devon-based charities who make a big impact in the communities they serve....

Burrington Estates, a developer of commercial and residential schemes in the South West, organised a fundraising event on on Friday for World Cancer Day, which fell on Saturday 4th February.

The event was in aid of Cancer Research UK, a charity that means a lot to employees of the company.

Blundell’s Prep pupils raise funds for blood bikes

Pupils from Blundell’s Prep School, Tiverton, were thrilled to hand over more than £2000 to Devon Freewheelers, the emergency courier service. The youngsters raised the money during the autumn term through a variety of initiatives including selling Christmas cards that they had designed, collections taken at their carol service and running games and selling second hand books and toys and refreshments at their Christmas market. Exeter and Plymouth based LHC Architecture + Urbanism has pledged a year-long programme of fundraising events in aid of the Children’s Hospice South West.

South West insurance firm Cornish Mutual has once again been selected to be the region’s call centre for Red Nose Day 2017. On Friday 24th March, Comic Relief will be taking over screens across the nation asking people to ‘make your laugh matter’.

The Donkey Sanctuary and World Horse Welfare have swung into action to provide essential food and support to hundreds of donkeys and horses left stranded in heavy snowfall following January’s earthquake in Abruzzo, Italy.

Food is arriving in Abruzzo, Italy to help animals who have been left trapped and starving in snow following multiple earthquakes that took place in January. The Donkey Sanctuary has joined forces with World Horse Welfare to provide food and hay to donkeys, horses and other livestock.

The charity team at Otter Nurseries in Ottery St Mary has announced the total raised for last year’s charity of the year, The Baton.

The garden centre raised just under £5,500 with enthusiastic staff taking part in a quiz night, cake bakes, dress up days and collecting tins on the tills.

£830 came from the annual Memory Tree, which is always a popular feature at Christmas when customers buy ribbons - red for £1 and gold for £5 - and attach them to the tree in memory of loved ones such as family, friends or even pets.

Devon firm raises over £20,000 for Cancer Research UK

A TIVERTON company has raised more than £20,000 in a bid to help beat cancer sooner.

Linear motion experts, HepcoMotion, have been supporting Cancer Research UK since 2013, raising funds for the charity from their European and UK exhibitions.

Hepco attends approximately 15 exhibitions each year, and donates €5 for every business card it receives at a show.
