Daniel Chan cycles to Paris for Spine Aid
Daniel Chan, a specialist spinal surgeon working at the Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital, has raised over £5,500 for the charity Spine Aid by cycling from London to Paris.
Daniel completed the journey in four days, averaging over 75 miles a day. He said “Over the last few years I have been part of a spinal surgery team with colleagues from Norwich, Exeter and Cardiff. We have visited the Cure International Hospital in Lusaka in Zambia.
"The population in Zambia is very disadvantaged and they have little access to specialist care in spinal disorders. There are many patients with neglected severe spinal pathology leading to hideous deformity and disability. Spine Aid was set up to support this work and I wanted to help raise money for them.”
Hospital Director Paul Taylor said “Daniel has done really well to cycle from London to Paris and £5,500 is an incredible amount that will make a huge difference.”
