Network Central Show at Sandy Park in doubt after company director jailed for 6 months
The Network Central event due to take place at Exeter's Sandy Park in November has been thrown into disrepute following the sentencing of well-known Devon businessman and the event's organiser Rod Major. Mr Major has been jailed for acting in contravention to a ban on running a company and owing creditors a total of £126,000.
While awaiting sentencing, Mr Major is reported to have carried on the business from a base in Marsh Barton, Exeter. Major’s company Network Solutions ran events in Barnstaple, Plymouth, Torbay, Cornwall, Bridgwater and Taunton and was, until this morning, continuing to sell space at forthcoming events. However, The Network Central website has now been "Taken down for maintenance".
Mr Major's partner Debbie Robbins, who is reported to have given up her job at the River Dart Country Park at Buckfastleigh to act as a figurehead of his company, and who now lives in St Nexans in the Dordogne in France, was found guilty of one count of aiding and abetting him.
Mr Major was jailed for six months and banned from running a company for eight years and Ms Robbins was ordered to do 80 hours unpaid community work and disqualified for four years by Recorder Mr Robin Belben at Exeter Crown Court.
Ms Robbins, now retired, is said to have been devastated by the jury’s verdict, but is fully prepared to come back and do community service work.
