As the Exeter Business Improvement District (BID) reaches the next stage in its campaign, those involved in the BID are beginning to explore options with other businesses within the city centre with a view to design, plan, manage and deliver a Business Plan that reflects their business priorities to take the city centre forward for the next five years.

Ray Frame, store manager at Wilkos is one of the faces of Exeter BID who are supporting the scheme

1. How do you feel about the Exeter BID?

City and town centres have, over the years, lost their position in the market. We need to be doing everything we can to encourage visits to Exeter. The BID process is a tried and tested method of increasing footfall and trade.

2. What do you hope for if the BID is successful?

Much can be done to improve the way Exeter is presented, promote the city more widely and ensure that when people come here they have a great experience and leave with a good impression.

3. What do you hope will be included in the BID business plan?

To make Exeter more appealing, vibrant and with a strengthened economic outlook and provide a longer term focus over the 5 years.

4. How would your business benefit directly from a BID?

Through increased customer footfall to the city, plus increasing the time they stay would benefit all businesses in the city.

5. What do you feel are the current and future challenges for businesses in Exeter?

Exeter has made massive improvements over recent years, but it needs to maintain the momentum to remain a destination of choice.
