East Devon District Council is looking for an individual or company to operate the on-site canteen concession at its current Head Office at Knowle in Sidmouth, which is the base for over 300 staff.

The council is seeking expressions of interest in providing a daily on-site service, but it would also consider other options.

The new operator would be expected to supply a selection of breakfast items, light meals, and snacks, together with a range of hot and cold non-alcoholic drinks, reflecting the overall health and wellbeing policy of the Council.

There may also be potential for the concession to provide refreshments for selected council meetings and corporate training courses.

The operator will have the use of the servery and seating area. They will be expected to operate minimum opening hours of 10am-2pm Monday to Friday, and must be prepared to meet all relevant food safety standards.

The concession will start in June 2014 for an initial period of 12 months, with the possibility of extension of up to a further 12 months.

There is a ground floor canteen with five tables and 20 chairs. Staff can if they wish can buy food and take it elsewhere to eat. There is a fitted kitchen/server together with use of the civic suite/function kitchen, which is located elsewhere on the ground floor at Knowle.

Bidders need to be aware that in 2016 the Council is planning to relocate from its current headquarters to premises elsewhere in the district.

Anyone interested can obtain an Expression of Interest form by emailing: tcoles@eastdevon.gov.uk or writing to: Property Services Manager, East Devon District Council, Knowle, Sidmouth, EX10 8HL, to arrive no later than noon on Thursday 29 May 2014.
