Members of Devon Hotels & Restaurants Association are celebrating recent success at the Devon Tourism Awards, winning awards across categories including Hotel of the Year, Taste of Devon and Tourism Pub of the Year.

The Arundell Arms based in Lifton won multiple awards including Venue & Business Tourism (Gold) for the third year in a row; Tourism Activity, Sport & Experience of the Year (Joint Gold); Sustainable Tourism (Silver) and Hotel of the Year (Commended). Last year The Arundell Arms won SW Tourism Gold and Visit England Bronze for the Venue & Business Tourism category.

Adam Fox-Edwards, owner of The Arundell Arms said: “We are absolutely thrilled and delighted with these awards. It reflects so well on the whole team at The Arundell and the hard work that is put into looking after our guests throughout the year. As we have the fine dining restaurant, brasserie and pub all on one site offering the best of local produce, we cater for everyone’s needs. We look forward to welcoming old and new faces to come and see why The Arundell continues to win prestigious awards such as these.”

The Ilsington Country House Hotel based on Dartmoor and the Northcote Manor Country House Hotel, Umberleigh jointly won bronze in the prestigious Hotel of the Year category. The Jack in the Green, Rockbeare won joint silver for the Tourism Pub of the Year with The Lamb Inn, Sandford.

Paul Parnell, proprietor of The Jack in the Green said: “We try to show the best that Devon has to offer through our food, drink and experience and we are delighted that this has been recognised with a Devon Tourism Award. For the last 23 years we have concentrated on local produce and looking after the customer, whether they are local or a tourist. The combination of these years of hard work and consistency from the whole team has been recognised with this award.”

Each winner endured a three-stage judging process, including assessment of their website, entry forms, mystery visits and a final independent judging panel. Winners will now be fast tracked into the South West Tourism Excellence Awards in January 2014 and then possibly on to the National Visit England Awards later in May 2014.
