Isca Hockey Club secures long-term sponsorship deal

Now in its 100th anniversary year, and with a promotion to the national league recently under its belt, Isca Hockey Club completes a hat-trick of achievements for 2013 with the announcement of a three-year sponsorship deal with Exeter-based solicitors Gilbert Stephens LLP.

And with the big ‘Derby Day’ event taking place at Exeter University Sports Park on 26 October – at which the Isca Ladies’ 1st XI will play local side Exe in the Women's Investec National League followed by an evening match between the Men's 1st XI against the University 1st XI in the Now: Pensions National League – there could be even more to celebrate.

Ben Laxon, Isca Men’s Club captain, said: “With plenty of local rivalry in the mix, all the teams will be looking to make an impression. For the city to be hosting two national league matches is a big deal, and it’s the first time that our Men’s 1st team and the Uni’s Men’s 1st team have been in the national league together, so there’s lots to play for.”

Ben continued: “Since our return to the national league after 13 years, the Club has been going from strength to strength. The sponsorship deal with Gilbert Stephens will mean that we can concentrate on getting more coaches trained, which ultimately benefits the junior players who are, after all, the national league players of tomorrow. With 9 of our First team players having come through the juniors, this is obviously key to the Club’s overall success.”

Philip Luckham, CEO of Gilbert Stephens LLP, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Isca Hockey Club as they move into a new phase of success following their recent promotion. We’re looking forward to cheering them on, and are excited to be involved with a Club of such impressive national standing.”

Ben continued: “With plans in place for a hog roast and a pitch-side bar, Derby Day will not only be a fun day out, it will be a great opportunity for Exeter sports fans to see talented teams thrashing it out on national-league level. It’s definitely one for the diary.”
