I wish I could tell you that I’m going to share with you some sort of special tool or software bot that will help you explode your brand on social media. Well, you’re not in luck today. You probably are thinking that this is a relief. After all, if you are reading this you’re probably been exposed to all sorts of hyped sales pages, you probably have been watching all sorts of content that have made all sorts of promises. Well, I’m not going to do any of that.

I’m not even going to go into how you should build an organic following. This advice goes beyond simply using social engagement from places like buzzvoice.com

The truth is there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all cookie cutter approach to social media marketing. Regardless of what you’ve heard and regardless to what you’ve been exposed to, the reality is successful social media marketing is something that you have to figure out on your own.

I know that’s probably not the kind of answer you’re looking for, but it’s also the absolute truth. You see different people with different interests and different objectives engage in social media in different ways. These differences do add up and to just say that there is this magic bullet Holy Grail of social media marketing is really going to just leave people to bark up the wrong tree and spend a tremendous amount of money doing so.

The bottom line is there’s no such golden product that works across the board. In fact, if I were to say that such a product exists I would be flat-out lying to you. The truth is there is no such product, so you should stop looking for such product.

Now you may be thinking to yourself, “Wow, what a letdown. This is bad. This is depressing.” No. In fact, it’s the best news for you. Why? While it’s true that it would be awesome if there was such a shortcut, it’s even better if you look at the whole process from the right perspective.

That’s right. I’ve got better news for you. You only need one piece of advice to succeed in social media. I know that seems kind of a bit of an exaggeration, this may seem like quite a reach, but it’s true. Regardless of the platform, regardless of how late you started, regardless how illusive or esoteric your target niche may be, you will succeed if you follow this piece of advice.

The Secret to Social Media Success

So what is the secret for becoming bigtime on Instagram, YouTube, Twitter or Facebook pages or Facebook groups and other platforms? Well, you just need to constantly fine-tune your social media presence. That’s it and you don’t stop there.

This is the secret because a lot of people who tried to do social media marketing they get their presence up on all these platforms and they publish a first round of content and they leave it there. That’s all they do.

They don’t learn from their audience members, they don’t try to attract the following. They don’t do much of anything. Instead, they focus on only one or two channels out of a wide-range of channels they have a presence on.

For example, you started on many different platforms, but eventually you just narrowed it down to Pinterest and Facebook groups. If that’s what you did, then you’re doing what a lot of social media marketers are doing. That’s why they’re struggling.

You have to constantly improve your social media presence and the only way to do this is to pay attention to how your presence on all these platforms engage with people from those platforms. Use those as data points to improve your overall presence on social media as a whole.

Improve Your Content Constantly

The key here is to understand that when you’re on social media, you’re engaging in a two-way discussion. You’re publishing content and people are reacting to that content. This is content messaging. Pay attention to that back and forth. Maybe your followers are actually saying to you do this instead of that. Unfortunately, you wouldn’t know if you’re just so focused on doing something else.

And this is why a lot of people fail with social media marketing. They don’t allow themselves to succeed because they don’t bother to listen to their audience members.

Build on Your Successes

The good news is if you keep blasting out content let’s say for 50 days, at least one of those pieces of content will be successful. And we’re talking about not just 10% successful or some sort of marginal improvement over the rest. We’re talking hockey stick off the charts type of improvement.

In other words, most of your content it’s flat and then this one piece of content is basically just a thousand times better in terms of engagement and clickthroughs than everything else. Pay close attention to that piece of content, make more of it, scale it up, slice and dice it and mix and match it. Otherwise, reduce it to some sort of formula that you can repeat over and over again.

The bottom Line

Simplifying constant improvement is crucial. This is the key. Charles Darwin said that it’s all a matter of survival. In other words, figure out the winners. Make more of them. Track the results. Break down what made the winners so successful. Come up with experiments. Once you figure out the successful formula, scale it up. Keep repeating this process over and over again. This is how you learn. This is how you finally fine-tune. The secret formula will help you succeed each and every time.
