Exeter BID launched in 2015 to give local businesses greater control over the city’s agenda for the next 5 years. 640 businesses of all types and sizes belong to the scheme.

The BID’s aim is to give these companies a greater say in deciding the priorities for promoting the city, achieved via a strategic plan for Exeter. 2016 saw a number of successful initiatives, built on the success of previous projects and led to tangible benefits for local businesses that go beyond those delivered by city centre management and promotion.

2017 has already brought a number of promotional events to the city centre from free Easter workshops for families to Summer of Independents – a campaign and competition to champion the independent businesses within the Exeter BID area.

Members are invited to attend this year’s Exeter BID AGM which takes place on Monday 17 July from 6.30pm to 7.30pm at Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel. Levy payers will receive a comprehensive overview of the last 12 month’s activity which will include an update on achievements of the Year Two business plan; an update from the Chairman; a presentation from finance representatives as well as the PR and marketing team.

Finally, levy payers will enjoy the screening of a brand new film on the achievements made by Exeter BID since its launch in 2015.

Levy payers are invited to register their attendance at www.exeterbid.co.uk/Exeter-BIDs-2017-AGM/

Exeter BID Achievements

www.inexeter.com – a new consumer-facing website giving visitors and residents a wealth of information about Exeter businesses.

• A Street Cleaning scheme creates a cleaner and more pleasant environment for local businesses, visitors and residents. The scheme benefits from close-cooperation with the Exeter BID Welcome Team, who flag any issues encountered during their rounds of the city.

• The Exeter BID Joint Procurement scheme, in partnership with specialists Meercat Associates, looks to reduce costs and secure better deals for BID businesses, delivering savings and helping to offset levy payments.

• The Exeter BID city map, given free to visitors and representing all 640 levy payers.

• Increased Christmas lighting by installing 120 individual illuminated decorations in 14 areas of the BID. This lit streets that had not been illuminated in previous festive seasons.
