Blue Cedar Homes expands with acquisition of prime Cotswold site
Exeter based developer of age-exclusive homes, Blue Cedar Homes, plans to expand its portfolio of exclusive retirement developments following the purchase of a prime development site in one of the Cotswolds’ most desirable locations.
The developer, who specialises in bespoke developments of premium properties for the 55+ market, has acquired the former Cottage Hospital site in the north Cotswolds town of Moreton-In-Marsh.
Situated just a quarter of a mile from the attractive town centre, the 2 acre site includes the former main hospital building which is locally listed. The purchase of this latest site in Gloucestershire is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen their portfolio in the Gloucestershire region.
Moreton-In-Marsh is Blue Cedar Homes’ 25th site acquisition and their second in the Cotswolds. The company currently has properties for sale at seven developments covering Somerset, Devon and Cornwall in the south west, in the Cotswolds and Oxfordshire and further west in Herefordshire and Monmouthshire.
Blue Cedar Homes will apply to Cotswold District Council for planning consent to develop the new Moreton-In-Marsh site to their signature style, which includes a small selection of spacious, bespoke and age-exclusive homes and apartments centred around an attractive communal landscaped garden with a summerhouse for residents. Blue Cedar Homes’ properties are designed with their homeowners’ lifestyles in mind, drawing on years of experience in creating stylish, spacious and practical homes and include interior design layouts that offer flexible choices to meet homeowners’ changing future needs.
Nick Cooper, Blue Cedar Homes’ Area Director, commented: “Moreton-In- Marsh is an elegant market town, with good travel connections and typical of the type of vibrant, charming and sought after locations which appeal to our buyers. The proximity of this site to the town’s amenities made the former hospital site a highly desirable location for us.
“The town has already developed a new hospital and health care centre to the south of the town and Blue Cedar Homes is delighted to be bringing this brownfield site, which has been vacant for over five years, back into use. The original hospital building has been a landmark in the town for many years and we value the original building and hope to retain it as part of our plans for the site.”
The sale of the Morton-In-Marsh site was handled by Perry Bishop and Chambers. The acquisition allows Blue Cedar Homes to build on the success of its recently completed developments in Devon, Cornwall, Monmouthshire and Herefordshire and to expand its operations and profile in the Cotswold region.
Nick concludes: “From our experience we know there’s a strong demand for high end, premium quality, bespoke retirement properties and our land purchase at Moreton-In-Marsh offers us an exciting opportunity to respond to this growing market and strengthen Blue Cedar Homes’ profile as a leading developer of age-exclusive properties in the area.”
Blue Cedar Homes was established in 2008 and is currently selling homes across a portfolio of seven prime development sites from its offices in Exeter and Bristol. For more information on Blue Cedar Homes visit www.bluecedarhomes.co.uk
