The best of Devon: Green awards finalists announced

The shortlist for the Devon Environmental Business Initiative (DEBI) 25th Anniversary Awards has been announced.

Over 50 entries were received for the awards, which celebrate green initiatives taking place across the county.

DEBI Chair, John Smith from Brightsea Print Group said: “We were pleased to have such a wide range of Devon businesses and organisations enter this year.

“The first awards took place in 1992, and we have been able to celebrate a huge variety of achievements in Devon over the past 25 years.”

Awards judges have begun visiting each of the finalists to enable them to make an informed decision on the outright winners in each category.

2017 finalists:

  • Made in Devon: Sungift Energy, Devon Business & Education Centre, Sandy Park
  • Public Service: East Devon District Council (two entries), Exeter City Council
  • Enjoyed in Devon: Pennywell Farm, Arundell Arms, Millbrook Cottages
  • Educated in Devon: Ashburton Cookery School, Pennywell Farm, South Molton Primary School
  • Sustainable in Devon: Exeter Community Energy, Devon Business & Education Centre, The Glorious Oyster
  • Environmental Champion: Stella West-Harling, Sonya Bedford and Clive Betts

The winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony on November 23 at the Met Office.
