The Devon Air Ambulance Trust’s (DAAT) campaign to fund night time flying by the onset of next winter has been given a huge boost by logistics business Gregory Distribution Limited.

The Devon based transport company has had a 44 ft trailer liveried with DAAT’s stunning night flying images and campaign message – ‘Help Us Make Night Time Flight Time’ – with the vehicle entering service on Gregory’s Devon Chill operation operating out of its North Tawton depot from where it will gain maximum exposure across the county.

The Charity which funds the two Air Ambulance service is committed to continually improving and developing its service and has set a target to extend flying hours to 10pm all year around from 2016, with a further extension to midnight from 2017.

Toby Russell, DAAT’s newly appointed Community Helipads Development Officer, said: “Extending flying time into the hours of darkness will certainly save more lives but will require an extra £1m each year to fund the extra crew, more training and specialised night flying equipment as well as establishing a large network of local community helipads.

“As a result, the more exposure we can get for our campaign the quicker we will reach our objectives, so we are immensely grateful to John Gregory and his team for their continued support for DAAT and providing this brilliant platform for conveying our message.”

Gregory Distribution now operates over 700 trucks driving in excess of 70 million miles each year with a workforce of more than 200 people. CEO John Gregory said: “Our business has long been a supporter of Devon Air Ambulance and the great work it does and we are delighted to continue this support in a very practical and visible way.”

Toby Russell added: “We are keen to hear from communities that want to have their own night landing site and we can help identify suitable sites and advise on ways that local groups and businesses can fund and develop their own community helipad. Anyone interested can contact me on 01392 466666 or by mailing t.russell@daat.org

Toby Russell was accompanied by DAAT Chief Executive Heléna Holt to Gregory’s North Tawton headquarters on (date) to meet John Gregory and get a close up view of the new livery.
