Antique jewellery taken in Exmouth burglary

Police seeking witnesses after a large amount of jewellery was taken from an Exmouth home.

Offenders got inside the property in Valley Way sometime between 10.30am on Tuesday 24 January and 12.30pm on Thursday 26 January.

They made an untidy search of the premises before stealing around 40 items of jewellery including some antique items of huge sentimental value.

Among the items stolen were a 100-year-old 18ct gold ring with diamonds and an 18ct pearl and amethyst ring which is around 70-years-old, plus a very old garnet bracelet and set of garnet earrings.

Other distinctive items taken were:

9ct gold wedding ring, which was worn thin through age.

18ct engagement ring with diamonds and a sapphire centre.

A child’s gold bracelet engraved.

A cross and chain with topaz stones

A silver hand-held mirror and hairbrush

A 2cm wide 9ct gold bracelet in a criss-cross pattern.

A small ladies gold watch carrying a retirement engraving.

A number of gold rings, earrings, brooches, necklaces and bracelets were also taken during the burglary.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious at the time in the area of Valley Way at the time of the offence. They would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered the items for sale.
