Cofton Holidays, the multi award-winning holiday park near Dawlish, South Devon, has been shortlisted in six categories across two major hospitality and tourism awards.

The family-run business is through to the final rounds of the Visit Devon Tourism Awards 2018 and the Herald Express South Devon Tourism and Hospitality Awards 2018.

This year’s Visit Devon Tourism Awards saw a record 164 entries, which is now in its 9th year. Shortlisted in the Responsible Ethical and Sustainable Tourism, and Holiday Park and Village of the Year categories, Cofton Holidays will now proceed to the final, with winners being announced at a glittering ceremony on Thursday 22nd November in Umberleigh.

Robin Barker of Services for Tourism, Visit Devon Awards Organiser, commented: “We’re delighted to see the ongoing development of the Devon Tourism Awards since we launched them nine years ago, and to see entrants coming from all parts of this fabulous county. Entrants tell us their prime reason for entering is now the feedback they receive, helping them hone their businesses and service still further, but one thing that doesn’t change is the delight caused by being told you’re a winner.  Many congratulations to all of this year’s finalists and highly commended businesses – you’re tourism exemplars!”

Cofton Holidays has been shortlisted in four categories in the Herald Express South Devon Tourism and Hopsitality Awards 2018, which is more than any other business in the final. The award-winning holiday park is in the running for Dog Friendly Business, Serviced Accommodation, Social Responsibility and Sustainable Tourism and Tourism Event of the Year. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday 29th November.

Tourism Event of the Year will be decided by a public vote with Cofton’s annual Classic American Car Show firmly in the running. This year’s show was a great success as Cofton welcomed over 2,000 people on site over the weekend, all keen to see American classics, hot rods and muscle cars in all their glory. Cofton fans can go to www.hetourismawards.co.uk to vote.

Having previously made it to the finals of the Visit Devon 2017 awards where it won Silver, Helen Scott, Director of Cofton Holidays, is hopeful of Cofton’s chances:

“Cofton’s success in being shortlisted in a number of categories for both the Visit Devon and Herald Express tourism awards is a huge honour for us. We’ve had an extremely busy year at Cofton Holidays, welcoming back returning customers and saying hello to new faces. The fantastic weather has brought with it incredible footfall and the team have been extremely busy throughout the season.”

Helen continued: “We are delighted to learn that our hard work has paid off and we look forward to attending the award ceremonies in November. Through the passion of our team, investment in our facilities and services, and the desire to go the extra mile, we aim to fly the flag for Devon and our region.”
