West Highland Terrier Insurance: A Guide to Health, Cover and Costs

Last updated: September 2026

A West Highland White Terrier owner may need cover for a new illness, a condition that returns over several years or unrelated treatment in the same policy period. The type of policy, first signs in the veterinary record, annual limit and owner contribution all affect what happens next.

Westies are predisposed to atopic skin disease, which commonly first appears in younger adult dogs and can occur alongside ear problems. This predisposition gives no incidence percentage and does not establish that an individual dog has the condition....

September is World Alzheimer’s Month, and this year’s theme is “ The Earlier You Know, the More You Can Do: A Dementia Diagnosis Matters.”

It does matter. I have seen first hand how a diagnosis can bring understanding to something that may have felt confusing, frightening or impossible to explain. It can open the door to support, conversations, planning and, importantly choice.

But I think there is another part of the conversation that matters just as much.

What do we do with that knowledge?

Because dementia is never simply about the person who receives...

UK Rules on Smoke-Free Nicotine Products: What's Changing in 2026

UK health policy has steadily pushed to reduce smoking rates for years, and that effort has passed through several distinct phases. Early rules focused on public smoking bans and standardised cigarette packaging, while later attention turned to the products smokers use in their place, and to how those products reach the shelf.

Vapes drew much of that early scrutiny, and nicotine pouches have followed a similar path as more adults have turned to them as smoke-free alternatives. That rising use has pushed lawmakers to build a clearer legal structure around pouches, and several of...

Vaping in the UK has grown into a market with hundreds of flavour profiles on offer, and new users often find the shelf choice larger than expected before they even open a bottle. Nicotine strength and device type play a part in the decision, but flavour usually decides which product a person picks up first.

Three flavour groups dominate most UK e-liquid ranges: fruity, menthol and ice. Each carries a distinct character, and knowing what separates them gives a steadier starting point for anyone browsing an e-liquid range .

Vape Mods and Box Mods: A Complete Guide for Upgrading Vapers

Authored by Simon Wells

Most people who pick up vaping start small. A slim pen or a pod system feels familiar, since it mimics the size and simplicity of a cigarette, and it asks nothing extra of the person using it. But that simplicity has limits, and once you notice them, you start looking for something with more control. Longer battery life, stronger flavour, adjustable output: these are the things a beginner setup rarely offers, and they're exactly what pull vapers toward a bigger, more capable device. This is where the box mod vape earns its reputation as the natural next step for anyone who has outgrown...

Being under investigation by the police for a crime can be stressful, especially if one is not sure if there will be formal charges brought against him or her. Before a charging decision is reached there may be significant time to safeguard your interests, consider the evidence and make sure the case is presented correctly. Pre-charge representation can come in handy here.

Why Early Legal Advice Matters

The early legal representation during a police investigation can enable the defence solicitor to review the situation before decisions are made. Instead of waiting for the charge...

One of the most iconic historic buildings in Devon isn’t being restored. It’s being reimagined after a devastating fire wreaked havoc on the mansion.

The Importance of British Mansions

Historic mansions like this are irreplaceable. Britain’s mansions aren’t like other buildings, as they show social character and architecture that simply can’t be recreated. Stately homes and mansions are also incredibly popular with the general public.

Television shows like Britain’s Most Expensive Homes attract people who are fascinated by properties like this, whereas Secrets of Britain...

How I Became the User a Tech Platform Didn't Expect

Last year, I signed up for a productivity platform because I wanted a better way to organize my work. Like most people, I started with the free plan and explored the basic features without expecting much. Within a few weeks, however, I realized something interesting: the platform had dozens of hidden capabilities that most users never touched.

The more I explored, the more I discovered that software isn't just about the features shown on the homepage. The real value is often buried inside documentation, release notes, settings, keyboard shortcuts, and workflows that very few...

Why Ultra-Thin Automatic Watches Are So Difficult to Engineer

Ultra-thin automatic watches are among the most technically demanding achievements in modern watchmaking. While adding complications often receives the most attention, reducing the thickness of a mechanical movement presents an entirely different engineering challenge. Every component must occupy less space without compromising the movement's stability, efficiency, or long-term performance. This level of mechanical sophistication is also one of the reasons why collectors often rely on an automatic watch winder when rotating several automatic timepieces, helping keep complex movements...
