University academic announced as Patron of Exeter College 

University of Exeter Vice Chancellor Sir Steve Smith has been announced as a Patron of Exeter College, becoming just the second person to be awarded the prestigious title.  

Exeter College awards patronages in recognition of exceptional achievements of distinguished friends of the College and Sir Steve joins renowned Chef Michael Caines MBE in receiving the honour.

Builders’ merchant Inter-Line is showing how to beat the online giants with a best-in-class digital operation that has just won the prestigious website of the year title.

Online giants such as Amazon and Screwfix have been eyeing up the builders’ merchant sector and are taking business from traditional merchants.

This has left many builders’ merchants reviewing how their online operation measures up.

Hendy Group has been shortlisted for a key automotive award for its commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates.

It has been shortlisted for the Community Hero Award in the AM Awards for its work in setting up the Hendy Foundation which provides grants to charities and organisations.

Hendy commercial director and Hendy Foundation trustee Mark Busby said he was thrilled that the initiative has been shortlisted for such a prestigious award less than a year after being set up.

Marsh Exeter has won the GoElectric Award at the Kia UK National Dealer Conference 2020. The award, presented by David Hilbert, Marketing Director at Kia Motors (UK) Ltd, recognises sales as well as a dealership’s commitment to staff training in Kia’s range of eco cars.

Kitley House Hotel is celebrating winning Gold and Silver in the prestigious Devon Tourism Awards 2019. The four* hotel was delighted to win Gold as ‘Wedding Venue of the Year’ against stiff competition from other leading businesses, and also scooped Silver in the ‘Business Events Venue’ category.

Kitley House Hotel received its two sparkling Dartington Crystal trophies at the Riviera Centre in Torquay on Thursday 28th November.

A company from South Devon has been named one of the best rural businesses in the country after winning a regional Rural Business Award.

Surfing Cow Ice Cream from Holbeton near Plymouth from was named best Food and Drink Business at the South West regional finals of the Rural Business Awards in partnership with Amazon which were held at the Royal Agricultural University and regionally sponsored by Openreach and Millsted Langdon.

There’s great excitement in Exeter indie retail neighbourhood Gandy Street with the announcement that The Recycled Candle Company has been recognised as one of the 25 Best Small Shops in the UK.

The accolade came after thousands of consumer votes were cast, and a panel of industry experts whittled down entries to the final shortlist.

Founder of The Recycled Candle Company, Richard Hills-Ingyon said: “We are absolutely elated to be amongst the top 25 in the whole of the country, representing the city and Devon.
