Sports Personality of the Year 2014 finalists revealed
Sportsmen and women, volunteers, coaches, committee members and community champions around Teignbridge have been revealed as finalists in the prestigious Teignbridge Sports Personality of the Year Awards, run by Teignbridge District Council.
The council today reveals the committed and talented people who have been selected as finalists for the Awards, which recognise sporting success and contributions at all levels around the district.
Winners will be announced at the annual awards ceremony on Friday 28 November at the Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish Warren.
The Awards, in association with main sponsor Kitsons Solicitors and supported by media partners Palm FM and the Mid Devon Advertiser, have a number of guest presenters taking to the stage to announce the winners.
Featuring 14 categories, the Awards recognise athletes, volunteers, sports teams, committee members, coaches, and community champions from all areas of the community that are going the extra mile to get Teignbridge active all year round.
Cllr George Gribble, Teignbridge District Council’s executive spokesman for communities, recreation and leisure, said:
“The response to our call for nominees was phenomenal and this year we received the most we’ve had in a really long time. Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate but it made life very difficult for the judging panel, of which I was one.
“Every single person, club and organisation deserves a pat on the back for their contribution to life here in Teignbridge regardless of whether they made the shortlist or not. It means that this year’s awards have the potential to be the best yet and we wish everyone the best of luck – see you on November 28!”
