One of Exeter’s long-standing independent businesses is teaming up with a local start-up to host a pop-up restaurant in Exeter on Saturday 30 August.

The pop-up restaurant, which will include live music and a pop-up bar, has evolved from “a real appetite for an alternative dining experience” explains Josh McDonald-Johnson, a michelin-trained chef and founder of Pickle Shack, the start-up responsible for the pop-up event.

“As a veteran independent retailer in Exeter, the Real McCoy was the perfect destination to hold such a unique event. Pickle Shack events place real emphasis on supporting local businesses, not only in our choice of venues, but in the food that we will be serving on the evening".

Josh estimates that 80 per cent of the ingredients used will be from within a 25 mile radius of The Real McCoy. An energised demand for an alternative dining experience, one which actively supports and brings together our local communities, seems palpable on the restaurant scene at the moment.

Joanne Greenwood, owner of vintage emporium The Real McCoy, is equally passionate about supporting local ventures: “I was thrilled when Josh came to me with his suggestion of hosting a pop-up event at The Real McCoy. Our core ethos is finding one-off and original items, and a pop-up event fits really comfortably with that!”

Diners on 30 August can expect locally sourced tapas style fare for £20 per person. Places are limited and bookings are essential: http://www.pickleshack.co.uk/events/.
