Local home builder and charity join forces to help fight cancer

An Exeter-based organisation has been selected by Bovis Homes’ South West regional staff as their charity for 2018, as they look to raise more money than ever before for a cause close to their hearts.

Staff at the housebuilder’s Exeter office have decided to raise funds for FORCE Cancer Charity, a local organisation which is currently supporting a Bovis Homes colleague who has been diagnosed with the disease.

FORCE launches new partnership with Princesshay

FORCE Cancer Charity is all set to launch a new partnership with one of Exeter’s most iconic shopping and dining destinations.

FORCE has been chosen as Princesshay’s Charity of the Year for 2018.

The new link will be launched on Thursday February 1 when FORCE will be in Princesshay to promote the work that it does to support anyone locally affected by cancer.

Representatives from the charity will be there from 10am to 4pm.

A musical gala not to be missed

Tickets are still available for Saturday’s (November 18) Classics Galore! concert at the University of Exeter Great Hall.

There are more than 100 seats (£12-£18) left in the main auditorium with just a few remaining in the gallery and boxes (£15-£24.50).

It is one of the most eagerly awaited events on Exeter’s musical calendar with a total of 200 musicians including a symphony orchestra, brass band and chorus performing popular classics with a flag waving, sing-a-long Last Night of the Proms style finale.

Team FORCE all set for the Great West Run

FORCE Cancer Charity will have 144 people running for them in Sunday’s Great West Run.

FORCE is one of the event’s partner charities and is hoping to raise £30,000 from this year’s race.

Oly Watts, FORCE Fundraising Development Officer said: “The Exeter Great West Run is a fabulous event to get behind and support. The run gives for our supporters an opportunity to give something back to FORCE whilst taking on this amazing challenge. Many of whom are taking part for the very first time.”

RD&E staff raise over £490 for FORCE Cancer Charity

Staff at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital have raised over £490 for local cancer charity FORCE after fundraising at their annual Extraordinary People Awards evening.

The ‘Winner of Winners’ event, which was held in May at the Research Innovation Learning and Development (RILD) building, was a celebration of all the extraordinary RD&E staff who go the extra mile for patients and colleagues every day. Staff from across the Trust received awards for achievements including ‘Excellent Care’, ‘Exceptional Leader’ and ‘Excellence in Values and Behaviours’.

Tickets on sale for Classics Galore!

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (July 1) for another Classics Galore! concert at the University of Exeter Great Hall on Saturday November 18.

It’s the sixth time this popular gala event has been staged in aid of FORCE Cancer Charity.

As well as providing superb entertainment, Classics has now raised nearly £70,000 for FORCE.

The profits from this year’s concert will be set aside for new equipment that is advancing the treatment of women with cancer at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Mid Devon man raises over £8,500 with 710-mile coast path walk

A Mid Devon man raised more than £8,500 for local cancer patients and their families by walking 710 miles along the entire South West Coast Path.

Jim Bray completed the 56-day, anti-clockwise trek from Minehead in Somerset to Poole Harbour in Dorset last year, with fundraising continuing into 2017.

The walk, entitled Jim’s Journey, raised £8,511.35, which was split 50-50 between Exeter-based FORCE and Over and Above, the charity of the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust.

It’s a Knock Out is returning to Exeter this year in aid of FORCE Cancer Charity on Saturday 2nd September at Topsham Rugby Club.

Come and take part in this amazing day – teams of 10 are needed to take part.

The entry will be capped at 72 teams – 720 participants who must be over 17 years of age.

Twelve wet and dry obstacles will be used in the games to jump over, jump through and run around!

All you need to bring is a sense of humour, fancy dress, a tent, a mascot and a joker!!!
