How to add your article or event

The Exeter Daily is your newspaper. It's true Citizen Journalism, enabling the people of Exeter to be reporters, reviewers and publicists by writing the news and promoting the events that you want to see.

How to get started

It's very easy to get started. Just follow these three simple steps to get your article or event online in minutes:

1. Sign Up!

In the top right hand corner of the website is a link Register, a little further down is also a box headlined 'It's your Daily' with a "Register" button. Click the button to go to the registration page.

We just need a username and your email address - no other information is needed. Once you enter these you will get an email with a confirmation link which you will need to click so that we can confirm your address.

You will be asked to create a password, and enter other information if you want - but other than the password this is optional.

That's it - we're off!

2. Scribble!

If you are not logged in, simply click the login link at the top of the page. You can now add an article or event. To do this choose the appropriate button in the 'It's Your Daily' box.

Now you will see the 'editor' window. Don't be worried by all the buttons - you don't need to use any of these if you don't want to, but if you take some time to have a look you will see that it's very much like a word processor and just as easy to use. You can just type your piece, cut and paste it from elsewhere, it's up to you. Do bear in mind the basic copyright rules though - if you didn't write it originally and don't have permission to reproduce it, it's safer not to.

Further down this page you will find an option to add an image. This will be the photo that appears above an article and elsewhere in the website.

There is also an option to add external video (for example from YouTube). The most watched videos will appear as 'Top Video' throughout the site too.

3. Submit!

When you are finished just click "Save" at the bottom of the page. It will be read by one of our experienced editors for any obvious errors and to make sure it conforms to our legal and decency rules. Depending on how many articles are in the queue it shouldn't take too long before your piece will be given the green light to appear on the website.

That's it!

One of our editors will soon review and publish your content.

As you can see it's very easy to become a journalist with The Exeter Daily! If you have any suggestions or feedback we'd love to hear them. We are constantly improving the site and as it's your Daily, your thoughts are essential for us to grow and develop. Just click the 'Contact' link at the foot of every page for details on how to get in touch.

Now - go get that story!
