A Mid Devon florist has come up with a great way of celebrating Mother’s Day and raising money for charity at the same time.

Ellie Price from Darling Buds in Cullompton is inviting children young and old to write a “Message to Mum” for £1.

The messages will be posted in one of her special window displays at the shop in Reeds Place off the High Street until Mothering Sunday on March 26. All the proceeds will go to FORCE Cancer Charity and each message will also be entered into a raffle with the winner receiving a small floral display.

Ellie says: “I opened the shop in July 2016 and it’s been fab ever since.

"With a background of nearly 10 years in floristry and qualifications under my belt, I felt it was the next step to open a little flower shop of my own.

"As well as selling flowers, I run floral workshops, ranging from spring floral arrangements through to creating mixed evergreen Christmas door wreaths.

"It’s one of the aspects of floristry I love, being creative and sharing my passion with others. In addition, we specialise in wedding floristry, covering mid and east Devon, Somerset and Dorset - again, a great opportunity to express our floristry style and creativity.

"I chose FORCE after hearing such wonderful things that the charity do from friends and customers. I feel it is important to support local charities - especially focusing on cancer as I have - as unfortunately most of us have family and friends affected by the disease”.

If your mum is in Cullompton but you’re not local enough to pop in, you can make a donation online at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/ElliePrice1.

The Darling Buds team will then post your message in their window.
