Visit South Devon has today unveiled a new look brand and refreshed website for tourism in South Devon, embracing tourism businesses and destinations across East Devon, Mid Devon, Teignbridge and South Hams. Changes to Stagecoach bus services in Devon

Stagecoach South West announced today that, starting 29 May, there will be a number of changes to bus routes on its Torbay network, including faster journey times, more connections and new destinations.

The Hop11 will be merged into the 22, which will be rebranded Hop22. From Monday to Saturday, buses will continue to run across Torbay up to every 20 minutes with one bus an hour extending to Shaldon, Teignmouth, Dawlish and Dawlish Warren. Teignbridge backs National Empty Homes Week

The number of empty homes across Teignbridge is at an all-time low.

As of October 2015 the number of empty homes in Teignbridge is 365, a reduction of 370 since 2008.

The figures have been released ahead of National Empty Homes Week (30 Nov 2015 - 6 Dec 2015), a national drive to highlight the waste of empty property nationwide, and to celebrate the success of numerous examples and new initiatives to bring empty homes back into use.

Visit South Devon's tourism industry update

Visit South Devon's annual Tourism Industry Update will be held on Monday 23 November at the Langstone Cliff Hotel in Dawlish.

Visit South Devon is the official tourism body for the South Hams and Teignbridge.

The event, which is aimed at tourist attractions, activity based businesses, accommodation providers and hospitality businesses, will update delegates on the state of the tourism industry in South Devon in 2015.

Adoption enquiries fall

Enquiries from potential adopters are falling across Devon amid reports of fewer ‘young children’ being available.

Local Adoption Agency and charity, Families for Children, are appealing to those who have ever thought about adoption not to hold back, and possibly considering opening their hearts to an older child, sibling group or those with extra needs, who are waiting and will wait the longest.

Devon domestic abuse pilot launched

Devon & Cornwall Police and Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service have today launched an innovative pilot project aimed at protecting victims of domestic abuse across South Devon.

Aimed at reducing harm and enabling the most vulnerable to feel safe in their homes agencies will work collaboratively to provide services personalised to victims targeting hidden harm.

New School Begins Recruiting Scientists and Engineers of the Future

Tomorrow’s scientists and engineers can now apply for places at the county’s newest school, the South Devon University Technical College in Engineering, Water and the Environment, which opens its doors to the first intake of students this time next year.

The innovative UTC has been established by the University of Exeter and South Devon College alongside key local and regional employers, to provide a specialist secondary education for young people with a flair for science and engineering.
