Haldon Forest Park turns into winter wonderland for charity dog walk

If you go down to the woods next Friday, be sure to take part in pet charity Blue Cross’s Bark in the Dark event to help raise money for sick and homeless pets.

The charity’s event is being held in Haldon Forest near Exeter, and is open to all the family and their four-legged friends.

Local tug of war club aiming for national championship titles

Haldon Tug of War Club are set to compete in the National Outdoor Tug of War Championships on Saturday 16 June in Oxfordshire. The Tug of War Association (TOWA) is holding its 2018 competition at the third annual Grove and Wantage Extravaganza, with tug of war teams from across the country competing for gold medals in different weight classes.

Police investigate double A38 collision

A lorry driver died and a man was left seriously injured in two connected collisions which closed the A38 near Exeter on Saturday morning (9 April).

Emergency services were called at 6.10am after an 11 tonne Isuzu HGV was involved in a single-vehicle collision between Chudleigh Station and Harcombe Bends.

The lorry, which had been travelling towards Plymouth, went out of control and crossed the central reservation, and ended up on its side on the opposite carriageway.

The UK's largest racecourse group attracted record numbers of people to enjoy a day at the races during the last year, according to new figures published today by Jockey Club Racecourses which show in 2015 its total attendances surpassed 1.9 million for the first time ever. Motorcyclist seriously injured in A380 crash

Police in Exeter are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision near Haldon.

The collision involving a single vehicle, a black Triumph R675cc motor cycle occurred just before 6.00pm on Tuesday 8th December on the A380 at Great Haldon.

The collision occurred on the A380 (B) carriageway just passed the permanent static speed camera location between the Ashcombe Cross and Great Haldon junction.

It would appear that the motorcyclist travelling towards Exeter collided with the central barrier and came to rest in lane two on its offside....

Haldon ladies Tug of War team are celebrating after coming third at the National Federation of Young Farmers Club finals, when they represented Devon at Tenbury Show in Worcestershire.

The team is made up of members from Bow, Newton St Cyres and Chagford including Emma Davie, Georgia Woodman, Alice Palfrey, Georgina Davie, Sophie Down, Lucy Thomas, Jess Palfrey and Alice Giles pulled against 8 other teams in the first heat, winning 4 outright, three draws and losing just one. Appeal for witnesses to Haldon Hill collision

Police are appealing for witnesses to a seven-vehicle collision on the A38 at Haldon Hill, Exeter, in which an elderly man suffered serious injuries.

The collision happened on the descent of the hill on the Exeter-bound carriageway on Friday 20 February, shortly after 5.50pm.

A black BMW 318i was involved in the collision with a blue Ford Ka, blue Fiat Punto, white Ford Fiesta van, white Audi A3, green VW Golf and black Peugeot 3008.

The rear seat passenger of the Ford Ka, a 78-year-old man from the Dobwalls area, was trapped in the vehicle and cut free by the fire...
