If you go down to the woods next Friday, be sure to take part in pet charity Blue Cross’s Bark in the Dark event to help raise money for sick and homeless pets.

The charity’s event is being held in Haldon Forest near Exeter, and is open to all the family and their four-legged friends.

The 5k dog walk starts at 6pm and a guided route takes dogs and their owners through the forest in the dark of night. Walkers will follow the festive 5k glow-in-the-dark trail, and see the forest like they’ve never seen it before. They can hear the sounds of carol singers hidden en route, and spot seasonal decorations hanging from trees strung with fairy-lights.

All money raised from the event will go towards helping thousands of sick, injured and homeless pets that Blue Cross helps every year across its hospitals and rehoming centres.

Emma Jones, Blue Cross Community and Events Regional Manager, says: “Christmas is a wonderful time to start thinking about the ones we love, including our four-legged friends! That’s why we’re thrilled to be hosting an event that will raise money for vulnerable pets as we come into the festive season. Blue Cross’ work is totally reliant on public support, so we hope lots of dog-lovers will don their head torches and come along for a lovely walk amidst a whole lot of Christmas spirit.”

Bark in the dark takes place on 30th November from 6pm (for registration) to 9.30pm. Entry costs £12 for adults (or £15 on the day) and £8 for under 16s (or £10 on the day), free for children under 5-years-old, and a family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) is £35.
