Exeter: part of the World's Largest Art Gallery

The UK has become the world’s largest art gallery this summer.

The unique exhibition, Art Everywhere, has transformed thousands of poster sites and billboards into iconic artworks from the national collection.

Bus stop or brick wall, you could find art anywhere.

Exeter’s iconic painting, Portrait of an African , is included in the exhibition. Previously identified as Olaudah Equiano but probably Ignatius Sancho, and attributed to Allan Ramsay (1713-1784), Portrait of an African is now on display in the Royal Albert Memorial Museum.

Gallery Conversation: Wasted or Not? Stem Cell Research in the Spotlight

Devon Photographer Meia Allegranza launches exhibition in Topsham

Topsham-based commercial photographer and published poet, Meia Allegranza, is launching a Poetography Exhibition on 1 August 2013 in Topsham’s The Café.

The exhibition, called “Poetography for the All Generations”, will showcase Meia’s two passions, photography and poetry, as she brings together 14 of her favourite Photos and poems.

The exhibition, which will be free to attend, will run from 1-31 August during The Café’s opening hours 10am–4.30pm.

An evocative exhibition of Devon landscapes showing throughout July and August features the work of two photographers, Natalie Christie and Martin Sharpe.

Christie captures landscape through artistic eyes and the selection of her works large and small is stunning, including summer grasses against a stormy sky and crashing waves.

Sharpe’s work is abstract with an emphasis on line, shape, pattern and beautiful spectrums of colour. All of the works are available for sale and can be ordered in different sizes.

Starting today and for one week only, the public is invited to choose their favourite British artworks from a shortlist at www.arteverywhere.org.uk

Summer craft exhibition: Make a Mark

The Guild’s annual summer exhibition by its Membership features handling pieces, samples, sketches and background material alongside finished craft work. It aims to reveal the relationships between physical objects and the emotional journey or technical processes behind their making. The exhibition runs from 29 June - 1 September 2013.

Firefighter’s art exhibition

A firefighter who was one of the first on the scene of a major fire in Crediton has created an exhibition charting the history of the buildings involved.

The fire in Buller Square on 2 February 2012 severely damaged five historic thatched cottages and adjoining properties were also damaged by the fire. Ten fire crews were fighting the fire at its height and firefighters were at the scene for three days.
